What is Gestalt?

Gestalt therapy and methodology is an integrative approach that brings attention to the present moment, incorporating many important therapeutic theories and practices: psychoanalysis, psychodrama, Gestalt psychology, existentialism, phenomenology, holism, and Eastern philosophy. Emphasis is placed on both body and mind, returning them to the present moment — where life takes place.

Cornerstones

The Road

I’ve been involved with Gestalt for over a decade now, both in individual and group therapy. I have also taken part in workshops about self-discovery, authenticity, bodywork, meditation, mortality and spirituality within a Gestalt therapeutic framework. On top of that, I’ve been involved in leading group work during my training, and that role continues to grow throughout my career.

I have taken part in different activities throughout my life: I dedicated years volunteering in (Techo) neglected parts of my country, working on community building and constructing emergency houses with squads of volunteers. In 2014, I attended the World Karate Championship (JKA) representing my country, and a year later, I began traveling the world -Oceania, Asia, Europe- for over 3 years, working in all walks of life. Retreats have also been an integral part of my life, like ancestral Native American practices, deep meditation techniques like Vippassanna and the Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage (as seen in the movie The Way).

Today

I keep delving into the core of myself, finding new insights and daring to tap into my fears and challenges through this fulfilling training. In my work life, I’m fortunate to work as an environmental therapist at a high-risk institution called Yttrabekken ungsdomssenter where we work with teenagers. We provide a safe space where they can get to know themselves better and work on different skills to face the challenges of life. It’s an enriching experience because it helps to redefine the struggles I had myself during that time of my life. It’s definitely a privilege to be a part of this amazing team of skilled people.

Why should you work with a student?

As Gestalt therapy students, we offer access to the same tools, practices and exercises as graduated professionals at a lower price, while maintaining the same therapeutically standards. We are actively supervised by a licensed therapist, ensuring ethical practice and reliable guidance. Being on active training means we’re familiar with well established and reliable techniques that help in rising awareness in the many aspects people might be struggling through in life, like stress, relationships, or self‑awareness. Because we’re building experience, we often allocate extra time to understand your situation thoroughly, facilitating insights that can powerfully aid your daily life. This way, you get effective therapy without the higher cost of fully established practitioners, making consistent personal growth more attainable.
